Clooney had joined the widespread backlash<\/a> against Donald Trump for threatening to wipe out a \u201cwhole civilisation\u201d in Iran, telling high school students at an event in Italy that \u201cif anyone says he wants to end a civilisation, that\u2019s a war crime\u201d.<\/p>\n Asked by The Independent about Clooney\u2019s remarks, White House<\/a> communications director Steven Cheung lashed out at the actor saying: \u201cThe only person committing war crimes is George Clooney for his awful movies and terrible acting ability.\u201d<\/p>\n The Ocean\u2019s Eleven star has now fired back at the White House. \u201cFamilies are losing their loved ones. Trump has previously described the three-time Golden Globe winner as a failed movie star<\/a> and one of the \u201cworst political prognosticators of all time\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cClooney got more publicity for politics than he did for his very few, and totally mediocre, movies,\u201d Trump previously said on Truth Social<\/a>, while referencing how Clooney had \u201cdumped\u201d Joe Biden by urging the former president to drop out of the 2024 election.<\/p>\n \u201cHe wasn\u2019t a movie star at all, he was just an average guy who complained, constantly, about common sense in politics,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n The president has also criticised Clooney for taking French citizenship<\/a> while describing the European nation as being in the \u201cmidst of a major crime problem because of their absolutely horrendous handling of immigration\u201d.<\/p>\n In December, it was reported that Clooney, his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, and their two children had secured French citizenship<\/a>. <\/p>\n At the time, Clooney responded to Trump, saying that he \u201ctotally agrees\u201d with him about one thing. \u201cWe have to make America great again. We\u2019ll start in November,\u201d Clooney said in a statement, per Deadline<\/a>.
