Yellow Warning for Friday<\/p>\n
Three Munster counties including Cork are facing into a Status Yellow rain alert, which kicks in tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n
Today is already off to a drizzly start, but now Met \u00c9ireann has warned of “spells of heavy rain” across the province on Friday, April 10. The Status Yellow warning for Cork, Kerry and Waterford comes into effect at 9am, not ending until 9pm.<\/p>\n
Before the warning becomes active, we’re facing a day of “scattered, blustery showers” and possible hail and thunder, with highest temps of 8 to 11 degrees. Drizzle will develop overnight, leading into widespread, heavy showers during the time of the Yellow alert. The warning will wrap up at 9pm, but Friday night will remain wet and windy – with a chance of sleet.<\/p>\n

TODAY – Thursday 9th April<\/p>\n
Cloud and patchy rain or drizzle will clear eastwards this morning and will be followed by a mix of sunny spells and scattered blustery showers. Some of the showers will be heavy and there is a chance of hail and thunder. Most areas will become dry through the evening as the showers become isolated. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with a moderate to fresh and gusty westerly wind, strong near coasts.<\/p>\n
TONIGHT<\/p>\n
Mostly dry with just isolated showers early tonight. Cloud will quickly increase and rain or drizzle will develop in most areas overnight. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees with light to moderate westerly winds becoming southerly and freshening in the west later.<\/p>\n
TOMORROW – Friday 10th April<\/p>\n
Tomorrow will be a wet and windy day with gales developing in coastal areas. Rain will be widespread and some heavy and squally bursts are possible, especially in the late afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds.<\/p>\n

Friday night: Wet and windy early Friday night with gales on western, northern and eastern coasts. Some heavy and squally bursts of rain are possible. The rain will clear eastwards overnight and will be followed by scattered showers of rain or sleet and some clear spells. Winds will ease too. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty south to southwest winds, decreasing moderate to fresh.<\/p>\n
Saturday: It will become windy again on Saturday with fresh to strong and gusty south to southwest winds and gales on coasts. A crisp and sunny start in the east will give way to scattered blustery showers spreading from the west. Some of the showers will be heavy with a chance of hail and thunder, and a few could be wintry about high ground in the west early on. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees.<\/p>\n
Saturday night: Blustery with scattered showers and clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees with fresh and gusty south to southwest winds.<\/p>\n
Sunday: A breezy and blustery day with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. Some of the showers will be heavy and there is a chance of hail. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with a moderate to fresh and gusty southwest to west breeze.<\/p>\n
Sunday night: Winds will ease on Sunday night and showers will clear from most areas. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees with light to moderate south to southwest winds.<\/p>\n
Monday: After a mostly dry and bright start, showers will extend from the west, but will clear again from most areas during the evening. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with light to moderate southwest to west winds.<\/p>\n
