The 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DW0lRqVkXlw\/?img_index=1\" style=\"background-color: transparent; font-size: 1.1em;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Grand Prize winner<\/a> was student Masaichi Yamada, who designed and welded this crazy-looking ride together:<\/p>\n<p>This is a &#8220;minivelo road bike&#8221;\u2014a compact road bicycle\u2014characterized by a tubular steel space-frame structure in which slender chromoly tubes are assembled into a three-dimensional form, creating an exterior silhouette that shifts depending on the viewing angle.<\/p>\n<p id=\"31aff2_1392\" data-ic-marker=\"99f87e_1675\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1828939_81_143675_ClcuD5NoV.jpg\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>The frame layout is designed to ensure the necessary strength and rigidity required for actual riding and performance, rather than merely serving as a decorative art object.<\/p>\n<p id=\"21ac3e_4819\" data-ic-marker=\"a5ae5f_3874\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1828941_81_143675_QjJTsB7Wz.jpg\"\/> <\/p>\n<p id=\"fb99e4_280\" data-ic-marker=\"e69f78_761\">Guest Judge Satoshi Hikita&#8217;s commentary:<\/p>\n<p>The truss-structure frame makes a powerful visual impression, yet it is also evident that no detail has been overlooked; the craftsmanship is meticulous throughout. The fact that the bike was intricately designed and assembled in three dimensions\u2014resulting in an aesthetic that changes depending on the viewing angle\u2014is particularly fascinating.<\/p>\n<p id=\"361a09_4198\" data-ic-marker=\"a87638_1796\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1828940_81_143675_Puag92n_B.jpg\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>I was also deeply impressed by how the design breaks free from conventional norms to present a fresh, new form of sculptural expression for the bicycle.
