Cond\u00e9 Nast<\/a> Traveller has named its seven wonders of Ireland for 2026, featuring some \u201cless instantly recognisable places to visit\u201d. <\/p>\n

Among the spots highlighted are Waterford\u2019s Greenway and Copper Coast, Fermanagh\u2019s Lakelands, northwest Donegal and Tory Island. <\/p>\n

Waterford was praised for having \u201csome of the most beautiful, empty and underrated beaches in Ireland\u201d, such as Tr\u00e1 na mB\u00f3 and the cliffs of Stradbally Cove.<\/p>\n

The Fermanagh Lakelands were credited for their popular boardwalk trail known as the Stairway to Heaven as well as the nearby Boatyard Distillery.<\/p>\n

The countries\u2019 largest herd of native red deer and reintroduced golden eagle were selling points for northwest Donegal where the publication suggested visitors enjoy Glenveagh National Park, Mount Errigal and Tory Island.<\/p>\n

The coastline featured in four of the seven listings with the Beara Peninsula in Co Cork and Kerry and the Burren in Co Clare also named as a top destinations. <\/p>\n

Describing the Beara Peninsula as \u201crelatively hush-hush\u201d, the British travel magazine proposed the route as an alternative to the increasingly popular Ring of Kerry. <\/p>\n

Although well known to Irish readers, the Burren was plugged as a road less travelled, with tourists encouraged to visit Aillwee Cave and to hike the Lough Avalla Farm Loop.<\/p>\n

The city of Kilkenny was praised for its culture while Newgrange was described as Ireland\u2019s Neolithic headliner.<\/p>\n

Visit Kilkenny\u2019s tourism officer Martina Comerford said that Kilkenny was \u201chonoured\u201d to be featured. <\/p>\n

She said that the city was \u201cproud to be a destination where world\u2011class festivals thrive alongside centuries\u2011old heritage\u201d.<\/p>\n

A spokeswoman for the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council said that \u201cinclusion of the Fermanagh Lakelands in Cond\u00e9 Nast Traveller\u2019s seven wonders of Ireland provides positive international recognition for this beautiful area\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt reflects the natural environment and cultural assets, highlighting what makes the area distinctive for residents and visitors,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Waterford\u2019s inclusion on the list, Clare Barrett, chair of Visit Waterford said: \u201cWe are absolutely delighted to see the county recognised once again by Cond\u00e9 Nast Traveller.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether it\u2019s cycling the greenway, exploring hidden coves along the coast, or simply taking time to enjoy the scenery and hospitality, there is a sense of discovery here that really resonates with visitors,\u201d Barrett said.<\/p>\n
