The Ottawa Hospital has announced a plan to cut three per cent of its workforce in the coming months. <\/p>\n

“These cuts will hurt patient care at TOH, which is already overwhelmed by high patient volumes and long wait-times due to staffing and capacity shortages,” union president Robert Gauthier wrote in a statement. <\/p>\n
He said the union expects more than 100 front-line staff, mainly nurses and personal support workers, will be affected, based on talks with the hospital. <\/p>\n
Gauthier said the hospital should be adding, not reducing staff, and estimates 250 positions would need to be added per year to maintain current service levels. <\/p>\n
