Casualty\u2019s staff undergo their biggest challenge yet this week, as they face a final safety inspection<\/a> that will determine the future of the emergency department! As CQC inspector Ceri returns to the ED once more, the gang needs to deliver \u2013 or they risk losing the hospital\u2019s major trauma status for good. Can Flynn and the team do enough to impress?<\/p>\n

“This truly is the last chance saloon for our beloved hospital,” says our Casualty insider. “The team has already failed two reviews, and they\u2019ve been banned from taking emergency patients at night<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“If things go wrong this time though, it\u2019s game over. And in true Holby fashion, a very chaotic shift unfolds\u2026” <\/p>\n

Everyone is on high alert as Ceri makes her third visit to ED, and the stakes are higher than ever \u2013 Flynn and Siobhan have even written their resignation letters and are prepared to take the fall for the team if the inspection doesn\u2019t go to plan.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Kim\u2019s eating disorder is worsening<\/a> since she started using a patient\u2019s discarded weight-loss injections. As the department feels the pressure, Kim can\u2019t concentrate properly and is haunted by intrusive thoughts about food.<\/p>\n

Under Ceri\u2019s watchful eye, the team is quickly thrown into action as a major trauma kicks off. Kim is distracted while taking someone\u2019s blood, but when the patient suddenly deteriorates, the resident doctor snaps back into focus and rushes them to resus.<\/p>\n

Colleague Matty takes over treating the patient, and he soon realises that Kim has made a big mistake\u2026<\/p>\n

“Matty discovers that Kim\u2019s handwriting on the blood forms is illegible,” explains our source. “He knows about his friend\u2019s eating disorder<\/a> and doesn\u2019t want her to get into trouble, so he discretely rewrites the information. But it\u2019s forbidden to make edits to these forms, so the bloods have to be repeated because of Matty\u2019s intervention.” <\/p>\n

Ceri picks up on this blunder straight away, and while the team is left wondering if the inspection is over before it\u2019s really begun, furious Stevie tells Kim that there can be no more mistakes from her today.<\/p>\n

It all gets too much for struggling Kim, and she runs away to hide in the bathroom. Matty follows, and Kim eventually promises him she\u2019ll seek professional help after the inspection. But this is just a ruse, as when Matty leaves, she injects another dose of the weight loss drug\u2026<\/p>\n
