Photo: Fionnan Blake\/Facebook\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1758655149_710_df3b78db-ec99-455d-8a54-c6f9ba14a282.jpg\" height=\"40px\" width=\"auto\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom0 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Pedestrians have been urged to wear hi-vis clothing following the recent opening of the new Applegreen service station in Dunshaughlin, Co Meath, due to safety concerns about the lack of footpaths near the site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Sinn F\u00e9in Councillor Fionnan Blake highlighted the issue on social media, saying several local residents had contacted him about pedestrians walking along the road adjacent to the service station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">\u201cIt\u2019s really dangerous and I believe it should have been in the conditions of planning permission that Applegreen include a path to the Dunshaughlin roundabout,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Cllr Blake confirmed he will raise the matter with Meath County Council in the coming weeks to ensure a pedestrian path is installed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The new Dunshaughlin facility marks a \u20ac15m investment by Applegreen and features Ireland\u2019s first Taco Bell restaurant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">It is expected to create just over 100 new jobs and includes a Marks &amp; Spencer Food shop-in-shop outlet, a Braeburn Coffee Caf\u00e9, a Burger King restaurant, and Crafted, Applegreen\u2019s deli concept.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The Dunshaughlin service station operates 24\/7, while the food outlets will be open daily from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, with hours varying by outlet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Meanwhile, the councillor and Fire Officer is now urging residents and visitors to take extra care while walking near the service station, particularly as the evenings grow darker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">\u201cWe will fight to get this done.
