{"id":393432,"date":"2026-04-11T15:28:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-11T15:28:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/393432\/"},"modified":"2026-04-11T15:28:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-11T15:28:10","slug":"where-are-the-fuel-protests-on-saturday-and-which-roads-are-impacted-in-dublin-and-across-ireland-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/393432\/","title":{"rendered":"Where are the fuel protests on Saturday and which roads are impacted in Dublin and across Ireland? \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/fuel-protests\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/fuel-protests\/\" target=\"_blank\">Fuel protests<\/a> across Ireland <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/2026\/04\/11\/live-fuel-protests-ireland-m50-dublin-luas\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/2026\/04\/11\/live-fuel-protests-ireland-m50-dublin-luas\/\">are in place<\/a> for a fifth day on Saturday, causing traffic disruption on many national routes and threatening fuel supplies at hundreds of garages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Hauliers and agricultural contractors began a series of protests on Tuesday, which have grown from slow-moving convoys on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dublin<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/m50\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/m50\/\" target=\"_blank\">M50<\/a> to blockading roads, and also fuel depots, that supply half the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">At a meeting yesterday between Ministers and representative groups a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/2026\/04\/11\/multimillion-euro-financial-package-will-not-be-unveiled-until-nationwide-protests-cease\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/2026\/04\/11\/multimillion-euro-financial-package-will-not-be-unveiled-until-nationwide-protests-cease\/\">multimillion-euro package of supports<\/a> was outlined but it will only be signed off and published once the protests have been stood down. Further talks are planned for Saturday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ireland\u2019s only oil refinery at Whitegate, Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cork\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cork\/\">Cork<\/a>, and the fuel depots in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/galway\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/galway\/\" target=\"_blank\">Galway<\/a> city and at Foynes, Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\">Limerick<\/a>, which supply half of the State\u2019s transport fuels, remain blocked. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Below is an update on the impact of the protests on Saturday, including road closures, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/public-transport\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/public-transport\/\" target=\"_blank\">public transport<\/a> disruption and fuel supply issues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">New road blockades can be set up at short notice. If travelling, check your route on the transport provider\u2019s website for the most up-to-date information. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-it-article-body__interstitial-link\">[\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Open related story\" class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/2026\/04\/11\/live-fuel-protests-ireland-m50-dublin-luas\/\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Live coverage of day five of the fuel protests Opens in new window<\/a>\u00a0]<\/p>\n<p>Dublin city centre<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Fuel protests and road blockades were continuing on Saturday in central <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/dublin\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/dublin\/\">Dublin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">O\u2019Connell Street in Dublin and the South Quay are closed to traffic, with implications for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-bus\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-bus\/\">Dublin Bus<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/luas\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/luas\/\">Luas<\/a> Green Line services (see below for more information). <\/p>\n<p>Roads and motorways<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Fuel protests on a range of national routes are causing disruption for motorists in counties Dublin, Clare, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\" target=\"_blank\">Limerick<\/a>, Tipperary, Laois, Westmeath, Carlow, Meath, Kildare, and Louth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Based on a <a href=\"https:\/\/traffic.tii.ie\/@-8.23052,52.68262,8?show=roadReports,roadwork,weatherWarningsAreaEvents,trafficSpeeds,stationsAlert\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/traffic.tii.ie\/@-8.23052,52.68262,8?show=roadReports,roadwork,weatherWarningsAreaEvents,trafficSpeeds,stationsAlert\">map of road blockages from Transport Infrastructure Ireland<\/a> (TII), in Dublin, the M50 is blocked in both directions between junctions 6 (Blanchardstown) and junction 5 (Finglas) on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">TII has reported congestion on the M50 between junctions 3 and 2 southbound; between junction 4 and junction 6, and between junction 3 and junction 5. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">On the N3, the M50 interchange eastbound is closed. The M1 appears to be free of blockades at 10am on Saturday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The M7 remains closed at Portlaoise in both directions and between Kill and Johnstown in both directions. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The M9 is blocked in both directions between junction 2 and junction 3. It is also blocked northbound between Kilkenny (junction 9) and Carlow (junction 6).  <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The M8 is blocked in both directions between junction 4 (Urlingford) and junction 11 (Cahir). <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Cork city and county appears free of road blockages on Saturday morning. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">There are multiple road blockages in Co Limerick. The M7 is blocked at Annacotty in both directions. The M20 is closed northbound between junctions 4 and 3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The M18\/N18 is closed at several junctures, including southbound between junction 2 and junction 1. It is also blocked in both directions at Dromoland in Co Clare and Tulla.
