\nMaya Hawke’s character will investigate the disappearance that is at the centre of The God of the Woods<\/p>\n
Kerry Condon is to star opposite Maya Hawke in the Netflix series The God of the Woods.<\/p>\n
US entertainment trade publication Deadline reports that the series is based on the Liz Moore bestseller of the same name.<\/p>\n

It is “a multi-generational drama series set in the Adirondacks, exploring the Van Laar family’s dark secrets, class tensions, and the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family’s summer camp – in the wake of an earlier family tragedy that may be related”.<\/p>\n
“As the past and present collide, the Van Laars’ wealth and influence unravel, revealing the damaging consequences of privilege and the abuse of power,” Deadline adds.<\/p>\n
Condon will play Alice Van Laar, “a character hardened by the grief of a past family tragedy and trapped in a contemptuous marriage, who is forced to face the unimaginable when her 13-year-old daughter goes missing”.<\/p>\n

Hawke will play Judy Luptack, “the first female investigator in the male-dominated Bureau of Criminal Investigation, who is assigned to unravel the girl’s disappearance”.<\/p>\n
Author Moore and Liz Hannah (The Girl from Plainville, Mindhunter) will be co-showrunners and executive producers of the series.<\/p>\n
Condon, who recently starred in Netflix’s Oscar-nominated Train Dreams<\/a>, will next be seen opposite fellow Irish actor Andrew Scott in Pressure, which tells the story behind the D-Day landings<\/a>. <\/p>\n Watch: The trailer for Pressure<\/p>\n \n It opens on Wednesday, 9 September.<\/p>\n
