Pic: KarlM Photography\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/extra.ie\/2026\/02\/06\/sport\/finland-ice-hockey-winter-olympics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Norovirus<\/a> causes diarrhea and vomiting and is one of the most common stomach bugs in Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also called the \u2018winter vomiting bug\u2019. This is because it\u2019s more common in winter. But you can catch it at any time of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Norovirus can be unpleasant. But it usually clears up on its own in a few days.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/norovirus.jpg\" alt=\"HSE Norovirus\" class=\"wp-image-1252859\"  \/>Pic: Getty<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.hse.ie\/conditions\/norovirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">HSE Website,<\/a> you are likely to have norovirus if you feel sick or nauseous, vomit, and have diarrhea; some people may also have a slight fever, headaches, painful stomach cramps, and aching limbs.<\/p>\n<p>The symptoms start 1 to 2 days after you become infected and last for up to 2 or 3 days.<\/p>\n<p>The best thing to do is to stay at home until you\u2019re feeling better.
