The 2026 Ulster Championship begins this afternoon with the meeting of rivals Armagh and Tyrone in the preliminary round.<\/p>\n
These sides are well used to each other and have met at various stages of the Championship over the last two decades, forming one of the fiercest rivalries in Gaelic football.<\/p>\n
Indeed, Tyrone were All-Ireland champions as recently as 2021 while Armagh won their second crown in 2024.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s a sense that the Orchard County are firmly in the mix once again at the beginning of another Championship season while the Red Hands will need to bounce back after a bitterly disappointing League campaign when they found themselves fighting against relegation rather than challenging for promotion.<\/p>\n
League form can count for very little in the white heat of the Championship arena and it took a late Rory Grugan free to split the teams in Clones last summer.<\/p>\n
