When you ascended the throne as the oldest monarch in history, and you have been battling with cancer<\/a> for two years, it\u2019s no wonder people are consistently speculating about what will happen when you\u2019re gone. That\u2019s the situation King Charles<\/a> finds himself in. Practically, plans for succession have to be made. But realistically, Charles is still king, and he doesn\u2019t need to prepare for what comes next. People around him do.<\/p>\n

And now RadarOnline<\/a> is reporting that, despite rumors indicating he would soon abdicate, the King has no plans to do so. Reports indicated his health would be used as the excuse for Charles to step down in favor of his son, William<\/a>. But royal biographer and expert Robert Jobson doesn\u2019t believe this is happening.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve seen him at events not far from him where he\u2019s almost falling asleep while standing up. And this is a man who believes wholeheartedly in his duty, and he\u2019s a courageous man,\u201d Jobson said on Tom Sykes\u2019 The Royalist podcast on April 8.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I would say this: if he felt he could not carry out his duty because of ill health, and if he feels that his health was in any way affecting his position, then he would not necessarily look to stand down \u2014 but he would likely say \u2018I can\u2019t continue with the treatment I\u2019ve got and I\u2019ll let it take its action,’\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Jobson praised Charles as an \u201cincredible man,\u201d but warned people that, health-wise, the king isn\u2019t doing as well as he has led people to believe in his last address about his health. In December, during Channel 4\u2019s Stand Up To Cancer<\/a> broadcast, the king implied that he was doing much better<\/a>. \u201cToday I am able to share with you the good news that thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to \u2018doctors\u2019 orders,\u2019 my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the New Year,\u201d he said in the message.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis milestone is both a personal blessing and a testimony to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care in recent years; testimony that I hope may give encouragement to the fifty percent of us who will be diagnosed with the illness at some point in our lives,\u201d the King also added.<\/p>\n

According to Jobson, \u201cI think that there\u2019s a lot of development in London science, and he\u2019ll be getting the best treatment possible,\u201d he explained, adding that this doesn\u2019t really change the outlook.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would say that we have to accept that this is a man, despite what was said. I think he was overhyped in December,\u201d he claimed. \u201cI think that the palace was overemphasizing the good news, and even the press people say, \u2018Oh, this is good news.’\u201d<\/p>\n

For Jobson, it\u2019s important for people to understand the situation. \u201cThe king is living with cancer. He will live with cancer. There\u2019s not any prospect of anything other than living with cancer. And that probably says it all, really,\u201d Jobson added.<\/p>\n
