Baby animals<\/a> trying on their “grown-up” traits will never not be a hit. Whether it’s wobbly first steps, clumsy first feeding attempts, or early squeaky sounds, there’s something irresistible about seeing tiny creatures gear up for the roles they’ll one day own. And when that baby just so happens to be a lion\u2014arguably one of the most iconic animals on the planet, the cuteness factor feels even higher.<\/p>\n

That’s exactly what viewers are getting in a recent TikTok from the official Zoo Knoxville account, @zooknoxville.<\/p>\n

The clip introduces a 2-month-old lion cub who’s adorably working on his big-cat behaviors. The clip opens with the little male cub toddling toward the camera, letting out the tiniest attempt at a roar. “That tiny roar is just too precious! \ud83e\udd70,” one viewer remarked, pointing out that at this point, the sounds coming from this little guy are clearly more adorable than intimidating. Realizing he’s unlocked a new skill, the little lion practices a few more squeaky growls, garnering hundreds of hearts and heart-eyed emojis from the internet.<\/p>\n

Moments later, the video shifts to feeding time, where the precious young cub eagerly takes a bottle from one of his caretakers. The contrast is comical\u2014one minute he’s practicing his big-boy voice, and the next he’s contentedly suckling like, well, a baby. Viewers couldn’t get enough of the scene, with one joking, “Even the lion likes a Dr Brown’s bottle. \ud83d\udc9c” Another is dubbing him a real-life Simba in the making, “He is giving serious ‘Just can’t wait to be king’ vibes,'” referencing a familiar song from the hit Disney movie The Lion King.<\/p>\n

The clip ends with some of the best close-up shots we so often don’t get to see of these fascinating creatures. His features are still soft and kitten-like, with darker coloring on the outside of his ears, and faint spotting across his tan-colored coat. As the little guy chews and licks some stuffed animals, we’re reminded that even the fiercest predators start as playful youngsters, just learning about life. “Don\u2019t we all just love babies? This one is super adorable! \ud83e\udd70\ud83e\udd70\ud83e\udd70,” gushed one viewer.<\/p>\n

A Strong Start for a Tiny King<\/p>\n

According to the caption, the cub was born on February 17 at the zoo.<\/a> After a couple of weeks, keepers noticed he wasn’t getting enough nourishment from his mother, prompting staff to step in and begin hand-rearing him. While that means he’s currently being cared for behind the scenes, the intervention will ensure he gets a healthy, strong start under close veterinary supervision.<\/p>\n

For now, he’s still perfecting that tiny, precious roar\u2014and we’re here for it. It won\u2019t be long before that little squeak turns into something far more commanding, but for now, this pint-sized king is already making a pretty unforgettable impression.<\/p>\n
