\n\tFreely, the free streaming service<\/a> backed\u00a0by U.K. broadcasters\u00a0BBC<\/a>,\u00a0ITV<\/a>,\u00a0Channel 4<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Paramount<\/a>\u2019s 5 that launched in 2024, will introduce Freely<\/a> Spotlight Channels to enable \u201cincreased monetization opportunities\u201d for\u00a0connected TV\u00a0operating system (CTV OS) partners\u00a0via the Freely TV Guide.<\/p>\n

\n\tEveryone TV, formerly known as\u00a0Digital U.K., the joint venture behind Freely, shared the news on Monday. Its focus is on enabling universal access to free TV in the streaming age.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe new Freely Spotlight Channels will\u00a0be available\u00a0on\u00a0channel 31 and channels 90\u201399\u00a0on Freely-enabled devices, meaning a total of 11 potential channels.\u00a0V, formerly known as VIDAA, the company behind the\u00a0VIDAA OS\u202fsmart TV operating system powering Hisense TVs, is Freely\u2019s launch partner, bringing what the partners called \u201ca curated selection\u00a0of channels\u00a0from their lineup to the Freely TV Guide.\u201d\u00a0V is expected to unveil and launch its channels within the Freely TV Guide later this year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe\u00a0additional channels present an\u00a0exciting new\u00a0opportunity to drive discovery, viewing and advertising revenues from free-to-air streaming channels, whilst providing viewers with greater choice,\u201d Freely said. \u201cFor\u00a0CTV\u00a0OS partners, the initiative creates a new, integrated way to monetize viewing through advertising and channel promotion, while remaining closely aligned with Freely\u2019s core value to ensure the content British audiences know and trust is easy to find.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEveryone TV previously said that Freely surpassed\u00a01 million weekly users across Christmas week, with \u201cgrowth continuing into the first quarter,\u201d it added on Monday.\u00a0\u201cFreely is independently forecast to\u00a0be\u00a0the largest TV device platform in the U.K. by 2030.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFreely on Monday also unveiled the introduction of a Showcase Channel on channel 100, designed to providing viewers with a series of short how-to, feature and informational videos.<\/p>\n
