Chelsea generated almost \u00a312m in revenue by selling the Kingsmeadow stadium to their women’s team during the year ending June 2025.<\/p>\n
Chelsea sold the women\u2019s team itself to a subsidiary company in 2024 for almost \u00a3200m, significantly contributing to a profit of \u00a3128.4m in that year\u2019s accounts.<\/p>\n
The Blues announced Premier League record pre-tax losses of \u00a3262.4m on April 1 for the year ending June 30, 2025, and have now published the full accounts related to that period.<\/p>\n
A payment of \u00a322.6m from Chelsea FC Women (CFCW) is listed under related party transactions within the Chelsea FC Holdings accounts. Sources close to the club say almost \u00a312m of that relates to the sale of Kingsmeadow by CFC Holdings to CFCW, following independent valuation.<\/p>\n
Sources indicated the value of the Kingsmeadow sale had been assessed and approved as being at fair market value by the Premier League under its associated party transaction (APT) rules, which govern deals struck between entities linked to a club\u2019s ownership.<\/p>\n
The remainder of the money paid by CFCW \u2013 plus \u00a311.3m showing in the books going the other way, from CFC Holdings to CFCW \u2013 is understood to be part of an inter-company agreement reached when the women\u2019s team was sold to Blueco Midco \u2013 a subsidiary company controlled by Chelsea\u2019s owners \u2013 in 2024.<\/p>\n
No further details of the inter-company agreement were revealed on Monday, but the \u00a322.6m paid by CFCW is more than the total revenue earned by the women\u2019s team according to the figure announced by the club on April 1 \u2013 \u00a321.3m.<\/p>\n
Chelsea were found to be compliant with the Premier League\u2019s profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) for the season ending 2024-25 despite the record-breaking loss revealed on April 1, and also for the current campaign.<\/p>\n
PSR state losses must not exceed \u00a3105m over a three-year period, but losses for spending on items such as infrastructure, youth and women\u2019s football can be added back.<\/p>\n
Chelsea originally bought Kingsmeadow from the owners of AFC Wimbledon in June 2016 for a reported \u00a32m.<\/p>\n
CFCW\u2019s full accounts are expected to be published on the Companies House website later on Monday.<\/p>\n
The club declined to comment.<\/p>\n
