While fuel protests and cost-of-living<\/a> woes have dominated the headlines in recent days, there’s still plenty going on here in Cork. For those in need of a break from the chaotic commuting and protests, Cork’s Marina Market has opened up two exciting new food<\/a> stalls with some tasty-looking offerings.<\/p>\n Street Frites is the first of the new stalls open down the Marina, bringing some of Belgium’s favourite street food to Leeside. Those who have been to Brussels or Amsterdam will be all too familiar with the humble hole-in-the-wall shops that sell fresh chips with a range of toppings to choose from.<\/p>\n Now, Rebels are able to enjoy their own colourful cone-full of chips without having to step aboard a plane after the new stall opened at the market over the weekend. The hand-cut chips are cooked to order, with a wide range of options inspired by cuisines from around the world.<\/p>\n The stall has everything from chipper classics like cheesy chips made with Cork-sourced cheddar to Korean kimchi, Mexican beef, and other interesting options. You can see some of what’s on offer on the market’s Instagram below.<\/p>\n Content cannot be displayed without consent<\/p>\n Street Frites is joined at the market by a new soup-and-sandwich spot from Local Roots & Co., aiming to cater to those looking for a health-conscious option down by the marina. The new counter focuses on seasonal soups, wholesome sandwiches and salads built around ingredients from small Irish growers and makers.<\/p>\n Owners John Collier and Simon Tiptaft say they’re keen to showcase the breadth of local food now being served at the sandwich and soup bar.
