Limerick GAA stars Richie English and Kathleen Fitzgibbon tied the knot in a fabulous spring wedding over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The long-time couple said I do in front of friends and family in the Church of Sacred Heart in Kathleen’s hometown Oola, with celebrations continuing at the stunning setting of Dromoland Castle Hotel and Country Club in Clare.<\/p>\n

Both Richie and Kathleen have enjoyed success within the GAA. Hurler Richie las lifted the Liam MacCarthy Cup an impressive five times, while footballer Kathleen was part of the winning junior team back in 2018.<\/p>\n

As for their day jobs, Kathleen works as an occupational therapist while Richie is a teacher.<\/p>\n

Wedding<\/a> supply company Alan’s Wedding Hire took to social media to share a snap of the happy couple. The bride looked stunning wearing a chic strapless wedding dress with a fitted bodice and sweetheart neckline.<\/p>\n

Groom Richie, meanwhile, was dressed up in a smart tuxedo. There were plenty of familiar faces in attendance, RSVP Live<\/a> reports, including Richie’s cousin and well-known Cork hurler, Darragh Fitzgibbon.<\/p>\n

Today FM presenter Louise Cantillon and her husband, former Limerick captain Declan Hannon, also joined in for the celebrations.<\/p>\n

Richie retired from inter-county hurling back in 2025. A statement from Limerick GAA at the time confirmed the news.<\/p>\n

Richie said: “After nine years, the time has come for me to leave the Limerick Senior Hurling Panel. It has been an honour to be part of this group and we have made incredible memories.<\/p>\n

“It is not easy to step away from such a wonderful group, but unfortunately my body will not let me get to the levels needed for the coming year.<\/p>\n

“Thank you to my family, friends and partner Kathleen for their help and support throughout my career.
