\n\tSpider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse<\/a> from Sony Pictures<\/a> Animation swung into CinemaCon<\/a> on Monday with a first-look scene and a big reaction from the room. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe third in the Oscar-winning trilogy is set for release June 18, 2027, with Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) returning after a cliffhanger last chapter. At end of 2023\u2019s\u00a0Across the Spider-Verse, Miles discovered that a parallel version of himself had transformed into the villainous Prowler in an iteration of Earth that lacks a Spider-Man and features a lawless New York City.<\/p>\n

\n\tNow, hunted by Miguel O\u2019Hara\u2019s Spider Society and betrayed by his friends, Miles finds himself in the darkest corners of the\u00a0Spider-Verse\u00a0in search of a way home. He is tied up, threatened, confused and angry. Knowing that his family has been not only fractured but endangered by his calling, it\u2019s a race against the clock for Miles to travel across the wildest reaches of time and space to fight for and reunite everything he holds most dear as his uncle and the evil version of himself try to stop him.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe films are stylistically groundbreaking and immensely successful. The 2018 first chapter,\u00a0Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,\u00a0won the Animated Feature Oscar<\/a>, and Across the Spider-Verse\u00a0garnered a nom<\/a>. Together, both movies have grossed $1.08 billion.<\/p>\n

Lord and Miller also produced with Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Jinko Gotoh. Executive producers are Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tLord has reassured fans that they need not worry as all favorite characters will return, along with some new emotional aspects for the teenage hero to explore. And they do. Miles has to deal with a sense of betrayal and turn it into something affirmative, he\u2019s said. \u201cAnd I think that the thing that we try to do with these movies is represent goodness and show how the love that the characters in the movie have for Miles translates into his growth and success.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tLord, Miller, Persichetti and Thompson introduced the clip of some early footage from the beginning of the movie, still rough, formatted for PLF for the first time. \u201cThe Sony Animation team is all about pushing boundaries \u2013 that is their super power,\u201d said Lord.<\/p>\n
