The D\u00e1il will vote on a confidence motion in the Government amid ongoing Opposition criticism of its handling of the fuel protests.<\/p>\n
The Government has the necessary numbers to win the vote but some of the Independent TDs supporting it have not yet confirmed if they will back the Coalition.<\/p>\n
This vote was triggered by a Sinn F\u00e9in no confidence motion in the Government.<\/p>\n
When the D\u00e1il returns this afternoon after the Easter break, the decks will be cleared to debate the Government’s motion of confidence in itself.<\/p>\n
A row is likely given that the Opposition leaders’ questions to Taoiseach Miche\u00e1l Martin are being cast aside to allow for the two-and-a-half-hour debate, which will be followed by roll call vote.<\/p>\n
The Independent TDs, Gillian Toole, Barry Heneghan and Danny Healy-Rae, are still considering how they will vote, with the Kerry TD viewed as the most likely to break ranks with the Government.<\/p>\n
Later in the evening, the D\u00e1il will vote on the financial measures to introduce those further cuts to excise duty on petrol, diesel and green diesel announced at the weekend.<\/p>\n
The Cabinet also meets this morning.<\/p>\n
Minister for Social Protection Dara Calleary is seeking Government approval to publish the general scheme of legislation which will allow the Public Service Card to act as a form of identity for credit unions, banks, and utility providers.<\/p>\n
