\n\tAfter several months of a pause in production, and the naming of a new showrunner earlier this year, Mr. & Mrs. Smith has started filming its second season for Prime Video<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tSeason two is proceeding under showrunner and writer Anna Ouyang Moench<\/a> (Beef, Severance), who came aboard the series in January. She takes over from co-creator and season one showrunner Francesca Sloane, who in September 2025 signed an overall deal with HBO<\/a>. At the same time, Mr. & Mrs. Smith producers Amazon MGM Studios and New Regency hit pause on season two<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tTalia Ryder (Honey Don\u2019t!, West Side Story) will star opposite Mark Eydelshteyn<\/a> (Anora) in season two. Ryder takes over for Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets), who had long been attached to play Mrs. Smith, though sources noted at the time of Moench\u2019s hiring that availability could become an issue.<\/p>\n

\n\tMaya Erskine, who starred with co-creator Donald Glover in season one, will be an executive producer on the second season, along with Moench, Glover, Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Stephen Glover, Anthony Katagas and Fam Udeorji.<\/p>\n

\n\tStory details for the second season are being kept quiet, though it\u2019s expected the show will follow the broad outlines of season one, where Glover and Erskine\u2019s characters were hired by a mysterious spy agency to take on new identities and carry out missions around the world. Mr. & Mrs. Smith is loosely based on the 2005 movie of the same name that starred Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.<\/p>\n

\n\tSeason two will be based in Los Angeles, relocating from New York. The show received a $22.4 million tax credit in March 2025 from the California Film Commission to film in the state.<\/p>\n
