Kerry Katona has told how she feared she was having a stroke<\/a> when she was rushed to hospital in an ambulance on a family day out.<\/p>\n

Kerry, 45, was watching her eldest daughter Molly, 24, in a new play when she started to feel unwell. She realised she could not smile properly \u2013 a major tell-tale sign of a stroke.<\/p>\n

Kerry, who was with her daughter Heidi, 19, and partner Paolo Margaglione at the time, said: \u201cAs the day went on, I didn\u2019t feel well. I went to the toilet and noticed my face wasn\u2019t right.<\/p>\n

\u201cHeidi was like, \u2018Mum, what\u2019s wrong with your face?\u2019 I started panicking. I discreetly left, went to my hotel and asked to see a doctor. I told the staff, \u2018Something\u2019s not right\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Atomic Kitten<\/a> star was told a doctor was not available for four hours, so the mum-of-five took a taxi to St Thomas\u2019 Hospital in London.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cI got there and they said, \u2018We\u2019re treating this as a stroke,\u2019 so they blue-lit me in an ambulance to King\u2019s College Hospital. They were shining lights in my eyes while my face and speech were getting worse. An hour ago I was watching Molly in a play, now I\u2019m being treated for a stroke. It shows how quickly things can change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fearing she might never speak to them again, Kerry, messaged all of her children \u2013 Molly, Lilly, 23, Heidi, Max, 18, and 12-year-old Dylan-Jorge. She said: \u201cI told them I loved them. I\u2019ve never been so scared.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the April 2 incident, Kerry was given tests and told that delayed stress was causing the changes in her speech and face. She said: \u201cA stroke was ruled out. Instead, CT scans showed part of my brain is broken and can\u2019t send signals to my face due to stress. It can also happen when you\u2019re feeling content. It\u2019s like delayed stress hitting you suddenly, because you feel at peace.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow and then, I get a shooting pain in my head. I notice my speech, even though I think I\u2019m saying something properly in my head, it doesn\u2019t sound right out loud.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kerry, who went to Marbella on holiday last week, has suffered a string of health-related issues in the past year, including two miscarriages. In January, she had severe stomach pain and was diagnosed with colitis \u2013 a chronic illness that causes inflammation of the rectum and colon.<\/p>\n
