Susanna Reid has said boxer David Haye\u2019s comments about \u201cugly birds\u201d do not \u201cbear scrutiny\u201d.<\/p>\n

The TV star appeared unimpressed by the remarks made by the boxer on I\u2019m A Celebrity South Africa when discussing his girlfriend Sian Osborne.<\/p>\n

In a group chat with the rest of the camp, Haye said of Osborne: \u201cShe\u2019s got a personality of a proper ugly bird.\u201d<\/p>\n

When fellow campmate Scarlett Moffatt told him \u201cyou can\u2019t say that\u201d, Haye continued: \u201cMost ugly girls realise they\u2019re not pretty enough\u2026 they\u2019ve got to have a personality to banter and tell jokes to overlook that they\u2019re not aesthetically amazing straight away.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost ugly girls realise they\u2019ve got to have a personality, it\u2019s called Ugly Duckling syndrome, when girls are ugly when they start off, they get pretty as they get older, but they\u2019ve still got the personality of when they\u2019re ugly.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou get a girl who was pretty from day one, everyone tells her she\u2019s amazing, so she grows up thinking \u2018I\u2019m amazing, everyone loves me, I can open up any door, I can go anywhere I want\u2019. They don\u2019t have to have a personality because most super pretty girls are idiots.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut their ugly friend, they\u2019ve got to work a bit harder. They\u2019ve got to be more personable, they\u2019ve got to be nicer to everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reacting to a clip of Haye\u2019s monologue on ITV\u2019s Good Morning Britain, presenter Reid said: \u201cI love that Scarlett just sits there going, \u2018You cannot say that\u2019. He\u2019s completely unfiltered.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked what she thought he meant by the comments, Reid dismissed them, saying: \u201cI just don\u2019t think it bears scrutiny.\u201d<\/p>\n

Co-host Ed Balls then weighed in, saying \u201cthere are very many attractive women who cook well\u201d, which prompted showbiz correspondent Richard Arnold to tell him: \u201cOh Ed, minefield!\u201d<\/p>\n

Haye\u2019s comments were met with disbelief in camp, with Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts shaking her head, and soap star Beverley Callard questioning: \u201cDoes that mean handsome men have shit personalities?\u201d<\/p>\n

Haye responded by saying he does not pay attention to men.<\/p>\n
