\n\tSeason 2 of Young Sherlock<\/a> is afoot. We teased last month that the greenlight was likely, <\/a>and now Prime Video<\/a> has confirmed it is happening with an official Season 2 order. Guy Ritchie<\/a> will return to direct the first episode of the upcoming season.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Sherlock Holmes<\/a> origin story has been a big hit for Prime Video, topping its charts in 95 countries and hitting the 45M viewer mark. It is one of Prime Video\u2019s top 10 Originals ever.<\/p>\n

\n\tSeason 1 began telling the story of how Holmes, played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin<\/a>, met James Moriarty<\/a>, played by D\u00f3nal Finn. Far from the mortal enemies they are destined to become, the pair become friends and combine sleuthing skills to try and solve a globe-trotting mystery that unfolds over the eight episodes.<\/p>\n

\n\tZine Tseng (3 Body Problem), Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid\u2019s Tale), Natascha McElhone (Halo), Max Irons (Condor)\u00a0and Oscar winner Colin Firth (The King\u2019s Speech) also starred in Season 1. No casting news yet on Season 2, but we will be across that as it lands.<\/p>\n

\n\tRitchie also will be an executive on Season 2. The series was created and exec produced by showrunner Matthew Parkhill. UK-based label Motive Pictures, which is backed by Fifth Season, produces the series with Amazon MGM Studios.<\/p>\n

\n\tSimon Maxwell, founder of Motive Pictures, previously told us of his hopes that Young Sherlock ultimately will run to several installments.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe know that in terms of the origin and coming-of-age story, we\u2019ve just told the first stage. It is absolutely designed to be a multi-season show,\u201d he told us.<\/p>\n
