He was moonlighting as a wine waiter at the Renaissance Hotel at Heathrow in London, which at the time was run by an \u201cIrish mafia\u201d, led by Limerick native Brendan Curtin. \u201cA few years later, I got my pilot\u2019s license and I flew over half a dozen of my friends from the hotel to Shannon. Meeting the Irish people was something I just fell in love with. The Irish and the Indians are very close, there\u2019s lots of commonalities,\u201d he tells The Currency.
