operating profits last year, despite \u201chighly challenging\u201d trading conditions in its key US market, amid \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/us-tariffs\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/us-tariffs\/\">tariff<\/a> uncertainty\u201d and significant food price inflation in the world\u2019s largest economy. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The group, which was directly in the firing line when US president <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a> unveiled a 15 per cent tariff on EU-produced imports, said on Wednesday that it \u201csuccessfully navigated a complex global trading environment, including renewed tariff pressures in the US\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ornua, which is owned by eight of the country\u2019s leading dairy co-ops, also grappled with tumbling global milk prices, largely due to an oversupply of the dairy product on world markets, it said in its 2025 annual report.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Despite these challenges, group turnover rose by 1.6 per cent to \u20ac3.4 billion last year, while operating profits increased by 4.7 per cent \u20ac136.6 million. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ornua also paid \u20ac74.3 million in premiums and bonuses to its member co-operatives \u2013 Glanbia Ireland, Aurivo, Carberry, Lakelands, Arrabawn, Dairygold, Tipperary Co-op, North Cork Co-op \u2013 in the year, it said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-it-article-body__interstitial-link\">[\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Open related story\" class=\"c-link\" its members, said Ornua chief executive Conor Galvin. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cI am pleased to report a solid performance from the business in 2025, a complex year in which we delivered continued growth across key metrics despite challenging global market conditions,\u201d he said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cKerrygold strengthened its position as a leading global dairy brand, reaching more households in 2025 than ever before and surpassing the $1 billion retail sales milestone in the United States for the first time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ornua said in the report that the North American market \u201cproved to be highly challenging, partly driven by tariff uncertainty, the impact of significant food inflation, and strong milk supply in the US putting downward pressure on dairy product pricing\u201d. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Galvin told The Irish Times last year that a 10 per cent
