Just about the only thing we didn\u2019t like about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms\u2018 first season<\/a> was that it was over too soon. We could have watched many more than six episodes of Dunk and Egg getting into trouble at Ashford Meadow. But some of that sadness was helped by the fact that we knew season two<\/a> was already being filmed. So will the reports that production\u2019s been delayed due to weather<\/a> mean a delay for the series\u2019 much-anticipated return?<\/p>\n

Fortunately, that doesn\u2019t seem to be the case. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season two is on HBO\u2019s calendar for 2027<\/a>, and as of now, there\u2019s no indication that extra time will be required. According to sources who spoke to Polygon<\/a>, \u201cWhile\u00a0weather has forced sporadic suspensions in filming, nothing has impacted the long-term schedule of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms\u2018 rollout.\u201d<\/p>\n

io9 has also reached out to HBO for any additional comment or clarification and will update this post should we hear back.<\/p>\n

As for that weather delay, it was first documented by Atl\u00e1ntico Hoy<\/a>, which pointed to a \u201cdramatic rise in water levels following winter rains\u201d that meant the show had to hit pause on production and come up with a backup plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cFilming of the scenes planned for the location has been moved to mainland Spain\u00a0due to the impossibility of continuing with the planned schedule on the Gran Canaria mountain, where part of the set has been\u00a0submerged.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans who have read George R.R. Martin\u2019s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas know \u201cThe Sworn Sword,\u201d which will form the basis of season two, takes place during a significant drought. Here\u2019s hoping the new location keeps things a bit more arid, and filming will soon get back on track.<\/p>\n
