Dunnes Stores on St Patrick Street, Cork<\/p>\n

Dunnes Stores has secured permission to use an existing terrace as an outdoor dining area at its flagship store on Cork’s St Patrick’s Street.<\/p>\n

The terrace is at the back of the building, on the third floor, facing Bowling Green Street and Drawbridge Street. Turning it into a covered outdoor space for enjoying a coffee or lunch is part of the retailer’s big plans for its restaurant refurbishment. The Irish supermarket giant has transformed its third-floor restaurant – providing a major boost to its food offering, which includes the food hall (which was revamped in 2024<\/a>) at the basement level and a popular ground-floor caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

The St Patrick Street store is the first Dunnes Stores location in Cork, and opened over 80 years ago in March 1944.<\/p>\n

The Cork City Council planning department has granted permission for the use of the existing terrace area as a Dunnes Stores caf\u00e9 seating area, as well as the installation of a retractable canopy and side screen for extra weather protection. It will be available for use by customers of the caf\u00e9 during normal opening hours until 5 pm.<\/p>\n

According to the planners, the development will be a great use of the space, which is currently not being used, as well as providing another inviting spot for food and coffee in the city centre.<\/p>\n
