Irish-based chefs aged under 30 are being urged to enter this year\u2019s San Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition, which brings together chefs from all over the world.<\/p>\n

The prestigious contest, won by Irish chef and Irish Times columnist Mark Moriarty<\/a> in 2015, assesses chefs on three key elements: technical skill, creativity and personal belief.<\/p>\n

Chefs in Ireland have until June 9th to enter, with a shortlist compiled by ALMA, the International School of Italian Culinary Arts.. <\/p>\n

Shortlisted chefs then compete in 15 regional finals, with winners advancing to the grand finale. <\/p>\n

Moriarty has described the experience of competing and winning as \u201ca truly career-defining moment\u201d. He said he would encourage any young chef in Ireland to apply.<\/p>\n

This year will see a new mentorship initiative, where 2024\u2013 2025 winner Ardy Ferguson from Belon in Hong Kong, Julien Royer of Odette in Singapore and Jeremy Chan of Ikoyli in London will take part in a dedicated mentoring experience.<\/p>\n

Along with the overall winner, there are three separate awards celebrating social responsibility, connection to culinary heritage, and the expression of personal belief through food.<\/p>\n
