\n\tElizabeth Banks<\/a> appeared on Bustle\u2019s \u201cOne Nightstand\u201d podcast to promote her new Peacock series \u201cThe Miniature Wife\u201d and called out the white women who voted for Donald Trump<\/a> over Kamala Harris<\/a> in the 2024 presidential election. While the actor can\u2019t understand how one could make that decision, she did evoke her \u201cHunger Games\u201d character Effie Trinket while sharing her wish for Trump voters to renounce fascism. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEffie for me is one of the characters that has\u00a0the greatest arc that I\u2019ve ever played\u00a0because obviously she props up this fascist regime that she benefits from and it\u2019s not until she really comes to care for and see how unfair it is when they want to pull Katniss and Peta into the games again\u2026\u201d Banks explained.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think in\u00a0\u2018Catching Fire\u2019 when she\u2019s like, \u2018I want to be part of this team,\u2019 and you really see her struggling and then by the end she\u2019s like a revolutionary\u2026 I wish more of us were becoming revolutionaries!\u201d she added.\u00a0\u201cEffie is the model, guys! I don\u2019t understand the 53% of white ladies<\/a> that didn\u2019t vote for Kamala.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBanks played Effie in \u201cThe Hunger Games<\/a>\u201d movie franchise, appearing in all four movies: \u201cThe Hunger Games,\u201d \u201cCatching Fire,\u201d \u201cMockingjay \u2013 Part 1\u201d and \u201cMockingjay \u2013 Part 2.\u201d The film were released between 2012 and 2015. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMy husband and I were looking for film rights to some of those YA books,\u201d Banks explained to Bustle about how she ended up in the franchise opposite Jennifer Lawrence. \u201cI read the first one right away when it came out, I think\u00a0because I was reading\u00a0\u2018The Maze Runner\u2019\u00a0and thought, \u2018I\u2019m so into this world and I want to find another one.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBanks wanted to attach herself to \u201cThe Hunger Games\u201d as a producer and \u201cimmediately looked for the rights\u201d after reading the first book, but \u201cthey were already sold and Nina Jacobson\u2026 I thought, \u2018Okay, oh well! But God I love these books.\u2019 And so when\u00a0\u2018The Hunger\u00a0Games\u2019 was being developed as a film series\u2026 I was so immediately on that because I just loved the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEffie will be returning to the big screen this fall in the prequel movie \u201cThe Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.\u201d Elle Fanning is taking over the role, with Banks saying: \u201cI think she\u2019s perfect\u2026I think she\u2019ll play that wide-eyed idealism of being taken along by Snow\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBanks had previously told Variety<\/a> that Fanning is \u201cperfect casting,\u201d adding, \u201cI\u2019ve always said it. The fans loved it and wanted it, so I was really happy about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
