{"id":401456,"date":"2026-04-16T11:07:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T11:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/401456\/"},"modified":"2026-04-16T11:07:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T11:07:11","slug":"nasa-administrator-draws-big-crowd-shares-whats-next-after-artemis-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/401456\/","title":{"rendered":"NASA Administrator draws big crowd, shares what&#8217;s next after Artemis success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAKELAND, Fla. \u2014 Just days after the success of the Artemis II mission, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman made a special stop at Sun \u2018n Fun Aerospace Expo, drawing a large crowd eager to hear what comes next.<\/p>\n<p>Isaacman, who has performed at the airshow in the past, returned this time in a different role, as the head of NASA, to outline an ambitious roadmap for the agency\u2019s future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll tell you, the mission was a great success,\u201d Isaacman said of Artemis II. \u201cThere are things we\u2019re going to make better about the hardware, things we\u2019re going to make better about the software.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>WATCH: NASA\u00a0Administrator draws big crowd at Sun \u2018n Fun, shares what&#8217;s next after Artemis success<\/p>\n<p>NASA Administrator draws big crowd, shares what&#8217;s next after Artemis success<\/p>\n<p>Artemis II sent four astronauts around the Moon and back to Earth, marking a major milestone as NASA prepares for its next steps.<\/p>\n<p>Isaacman told the crowd that Artemis III, targeted for 2027, will launch into low-Earth orbit, where astronauts will rendezvous and dock with commercial lunar landers. That mission will help test critical systems before Artemis IV, planned for 2028, when astronauts are expected to return to the lunar surface for the first time in decades.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are absolutely going back to stay,\u201d Isaacman said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to build a Moon base.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The long-term goal, he added, is to prepare for future missions to Mars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very close at that point in time to being able to send astronauts to Mars,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The message resonated with many in the crowd, especially young people inspired by the recent launch.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Maile traveled from Tampa with his son, Emerson. Weeks ago, they traveled to the Space Coast to witness the Artemis II launch in person.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s exhilarating,\u201d Stephen said. \u201cIf you\u2019ve never seen a launch, especially that historic magnitude.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, just days later, they were front row at Sun \u2018n Fun, to hear what comes next.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy son\u2019s in eighth grade, right?\u201d Stephen said. \u201cWhat does he have to look forward to \u2026 as he goes through high school and college and sets himself up in ten years potentially to work in aerospace or space or NASA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Emerson, the goal is already taking shape.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like to be an aerospace engineer, possibly working in NASA in the next couple of years maybe,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Share Your Story with Chad<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ChadMills.png\"\/><br \/>Chad Mills calls Polk County home and has witnessed the area\u2019s growth firsthand.
