Cork held off Kerry to record a 0-10 to 0-09 victory over their provincial rivals in their Munster Under-20 Football Championship clash at P\u00e1irc U\u00ed Chaoimh.<\/p>\n
The Rebels had lost their last six encounters against the Kingdom at the age level, with their last win coming in 2021.<\/p>\n
Their prospects seemed likely to be compromised when senior star Dara Sheedy was forced off injured after 20 minutes, but the sides went in level at the break at 0-03 to 0-03 in a low-scoring affair.<\/p>\n
Mark O’Brien\u2019s two-pointer gave Cork the lead for the first time just after play resumed in the second half.<\/p>\n
Dylan O\u2019Neill stretched their buffer to three points in the 37th minute, but Tom\u00e1s Kennedy ended the Kerry scoring drought a minute later.<\/p>\n
Odhran Foley and a two-pointer from Danny Miskella had Cork in the driving seat in the closing stages, and although Daniel Kirby and Kennedy reduced the arrears, an equaliser proved out of reach.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere in the province, Waterford shocked Clare Kilmihil, prevailing by 2-14 to 2-13.<\/p>\n
Paddy McCarthy was the D\u00e9ise’s hero as he secured the upset with his free in what proved the final kick of the game.<\/p>\n
