SKIBBEREEN entrepreneur, Damien Long has confirmed that his company, Dave Long Coach Travel, has purchased The Viaduct, an iconic venue on the outskirts of Cork city.<\/p>\n
‘This is an extremely proud day, not just for myself, but for my entire family,’ Damien said as he announced his latest business expansion.<\/p>\n
‘To me, The Viaduct marks the gateway to West Cork. When you pass through those arches, you know you\u2019re nearly home,’ said Damien, whose acquisition of an office space in Skibbereen, and another key site at Aughaville on the Bantry to Dunmanway road, has afforded him highly strategic locations for his low fare daily bus services, West Cork Connect.<\/p>\n
The owner of the company said: ‘We have something really special planned for this landmark site, and I\u2019m genuinely excited to bring it to life.’<\/p>\n
He said the company will offer a brand new daily direct bus service linking The Viaduct to Dublin City and Dublin Airport, with multiple departures throughout the day.<\/p>\n
He maintained that this will \u200b’offer the most convenient and accessible way for the people of West Cork and Cork City to travel to and from Dublin.’<\/p>\n
As part of his vision for the new enterprise, Damien is planning to provide a dedicated shuttle operating every 30 minutes from early morning until midnight that will connect The Viaduct to CUH, Wilton, UCC, the Mercy Hospital, Cork City Centre and Kent Station.<\/p>\n
Saving what some might believe to be the best news ’till last, Damien said the iconic roadside eatery will be ‘completely reimagined into a modern roadside plaza, similar to those found on popular motorway routes, alongside a bar and 24-hour convenience shop, creating a comfortable and accessible space for passengers at all hours.<\/p>\n
‘There has been an enormous amount of work behind the scenes over the past couple of months to get this over the line, and I\u2019m over the moon to finally share this massive news,’ he said.<\/p>\n
Damien Long, founder of TravelMaster and West Cork Connect, and winner of the Best New Business award at the West Cork Business and Tourism Awards, hosted by The Southern Star, confirmed that The Viaduct will ‘keep all of the charm and character on the exterior.<\/p>\n
‘It\u2019s such an iconic structure that we even incorporated it into our logo when we started West Cork Connect back in 2019.<\/p>\n
‘My goal for this site is to create a space that is safe, well-lit and equipped with proper facilities for the people of West Cork, Cork City and the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n
‘It will be a place where you can stop, get a coffee, make use of all the facilities and services within the plaza, and travel in comfort, whether that\u2019s using the park and ride into the city centre or travelling further to Dublin City or Dublin Airport from a location that is easy to access.<\/p>\n
‘This is something we\u2019ve been working towards for a long time,’ he added. ‘And I truly believe this development will transform how people travel from West Cork, Cork City and onwards to Dublin and beyond in a way that\u2019s never been seen before.’<\/p>\n
