{"id":402725,"date":"2026-04-17T03:09:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T03:09:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/402725\/"},"modified":"2026-04-17T03:09:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T03:09:17","slug":"tralee-man-admits-laundering-over-e18000-of-criminal-proceeds-in-three-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/402725\/","title":{"rendered":"Tralee man admits laundering over \u20ac18,000 of criminal proceeds in three days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Tralee man has admitted laundering over \u20ac18,000 worth of criminal proceeds, or illegal money, in the space of three days.<\/p>\n<p>26-year-old Kieran Keane of 53 Gallowsfield, Tralee, pleaded guilty to three counts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiokerry.ie\/news\/money-laundering\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">money laundering<\/a> at Tralee Circuit Court.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Keane was previously sent forward to the Circuit Court on a signed plea of guilty to three charges.<\/p>\n<p>The charge is engaging in converting\/transferring\/handling\/acquiring\/possessing\/using property that is the proceeds of criminal conduct, while knowing, believing, or being reckless as to whether that property was the proceeds of criminal conduct.<\/p>\n<p>The first of those was that on 30th October 2024, he laundered amounts of over \u20ac2,600 and \u20ac3,200 credited to his own AIB account.<\/p>\n<p>The next day, he also laundered amounts totalling over \u20ac2,800 and \u20ac3,700 into his own AIB account.<\/p>\n<p>The next day, he laundered amounts of over \u20ac2,316 and over \u20ac3,800 through his AIB account.<\/p>\n<p>These are money laundering offences contrary to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/eli\/2010\/act\/6\/section\/7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act 2010<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Keane was present in Tralee Circuit Court to affirm his guilty pleas.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Alec Gabbett remanded him on continuing bail to 21st April for sentencing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Tralee man has admitted laundering over \u20ac18,000 worth of criminal proceeds, or illegal money, in the space&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":402726,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[42,43,177473,40,38,41,39],"class_list":{"0":"post-402725","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-headlines","8":"tag-headlines","9":"tag-news","10":"tag-proceeds","11":"tag-top-news","12":"tag-top-stories","13":"tag-topnews","14":"tag-topstories"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/402725","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=402725"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/402725\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/402726"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=402725"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=402725"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=402725"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
