It’s the end of an era for one of Dublin’s most beloved chippers as the Borza family are shutting up shop in Walkinstown.<\/p>\n
The Original Borza on Cromwellsfort Road has served customers from Dublin<\/a> 12 and beyond since 1960. But in just under two weeks’ time, Teresa Borza Forte and her family will dish out their last bag of chips at the location.<\/p>\n Replying to a post on Facebook<\/a> asking if the chipper had closed, she said: “We have lovely people taking over. My family want to try different avenues, and unfortunately I\u2019m not able to run the business on my own.<\/p>\n “I just want to thank everyone for all the support over the last 58 years. It\u2019s definitely an emotional rollercoaster for me right now letting go, but please God the new tenants will take care of my lovely customers.”<\/p>\n A number of those lovely customers shared their well-wishes to Teresa. One said: “Wishing you the very best of luck Teresa. Sorry to see you go, have lots of great memories with you and your family, especially at night on way home from the Sub.”<\/p>\n A second wrote: “Teresa, sorry to hear the sad news. I wish you all the best for the future. Always a great fish and chip on Friday night.”<\/p>\n A third said: “End of an era Teresa, I\u2019m sure you have many happy memories of your family\u2019s time building a brilliant business that served the local community. Your food was always delicious and even now having lived away for many years I still talk about Borza chips of a Friday night, always delicious, wishing you all the very best for the future.”<\/p>\n And a fourth wrote: “Wishing you and the family all the best Teresa. You will be missed. Your family was a true staple in the neighborhood, and we loved you all for it.”<\/p>\n The last trading day for Teresa and her family will be April 30. Teresa added that the chipper will be closed on the next two Mondays – April 20 and 27 – due to works being carried out by the future tenants.<\/p>\n She also said that the Whitehall Road and Kimmage Road Lower Borza branches are remaining open.<\/p>\n Want to see more of the stories you love from Dublin Live?
