Friends star Matt LeBlanc could be making a big TV comeback next year, as a new police drama is reportedly in the works at American network CBS. Variety<\/a> reports that, should the series be greenlit for a full season, it will air across late 2027 and early 2028.<\/p>\n

Going by the working title of Flint, the plot features LeBlanc as “a burnt-out LAPD detective who, on the verge of retirement, is blindsided when the city extends his service by five years”.<\/p>\n

“Determined to get fired, he breaks rules and disobeys orders, which, to his dismay, makes him an even better cop,” continues the logline.<\/p>\n

Alongside its interesting premise, Flint has Evan Katz – known for his work on 24, The Event and Special Unit 2 – at the helm, while Jerry Bruckheimer’s television production company is on board. Little else is known about the project, which is in the early stages of development.<\/p>\n

LeBlanc is best known for the part of Joey Tribbiani in beloved sitcom Friends<\/a> between 1994 and 2004, before he reprised the iconic role in the short-lived spin-off, Joey, between 2004 and 2006.<\/p>\n

After taking a few years out from acting, LeBlanc played a fictionalised version of himself in the David Crane’s Episodes between 2011 and 2017, and fronted Man with a Plan for four seasons until its conclusion in 2020.<\/p>\n

He also turned his hand to presenting, and fronted a few seasons of Top Gear for the BBC in the latter half of the 2010s. He hasn’t done much this decade, so Flint being greenlit would represent a second comeback of sorts. <\/p>\n

Also getting a new lease of life is LeBlanc’s Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow, who returned with the third season<\/a> of The Comeback earlier this year. The mockumentary satire follows hapless sitcom actor, Valerie Cherish, as she tries to remain relevant in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

The third and final season<\/a>, which is currently airing with weekly episodes, sees her grapple with starring in a new comedy series that has been written by AI, all while trying to keep it a secret from her peers.<\/p>\n

Flint has no release date.<\/p>\n
