(Yes, sorry, this shower favors the early birds!)<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-a19618e2-80ed-4b71-908a-efa0296f5aa6-2\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">You can find Lyra by locating Vega, one of the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/brightest-stars-in-the-sky\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/brightest-stars-in-the-sky\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/brightest-stars-in-the-sky\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">brightest stars<\/a> visible in the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/what-to-see-night-sky-april-2026-maps\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/what-to-see-night-sky-april-2026-maps\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/what-to-see-night-sky-april-2026-maps\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">night sky<\/a> at this time of year. It&#8217;ll be shining bright above the northeastern horizon shortly after sunset and climb higher in the sky as the night progresses. A dedicated <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/best-stargazing-apps\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/best-stargazing-apps\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/best-stargazing-apps\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stargazing app<\/a> can help you identify targets like <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/21719-vega.html\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/21719-vega.html\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/21719-vega.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vega<\/a> in the night sky with ease. BUT don&#8217;t look directly at the radiant. While meteors appear to originate from Lyra, the longest and most dramatic streaks often appear farther away. Make sure to scan the sky surrounding the radiant while also keeping an eye on the rest of the sky, as Lyrids can appear unexpectedly in <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/earthsky.org\/astronomy-essentials\/everything-you-need-to-know-lyrid-meteor-shower\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/earthsky.org\/astronomy-essentials\/everything-you-need-to-know-lyrid-meteor-shower\/\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">any and all parts of the sky<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>            You may like<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-306816ea-e9c5-4f3c-997a-a7367ca79136\">The Lyrids can produce up to 15-20 <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/meteor-showers-shooting-stars.html\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/meteor-showers-shooting-stars.html\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/meteor-showers-shooting-stars.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">meteors<\/a> per hour under ideal conditions.
