{"id":405904,"date":"2026-04-19T00:53:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-19T00:53:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/405904\/"},"modified":"2026-04-19T00:53:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T00:53:10","slug":"four-people-rescued-after-boat-catches-fire-and-sinks-off-dun-laoghaire-coast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/405904\/","title":{"rendered":"Four people rescued after boat catches fire and sinks off D\u00fan Laoghaire coast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four people have been rescued after a boat caught fire and sank off the coast of D\u00fan Laoghaire.<\/p>\n<p>The pleasure craft had four adults on board and was around 11 metres long.<\/p>\n<p>The Coast Guard was called at around 3.45pm on Saturday to report a fire on the boat, which was situated around 2.4km, or 1.5 miles northeast of D\u00fan Laoghaire, a\u00a0spokesperson for the Department of Transport said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Thick plumes of black smoke were visible from multiple points along the coast.<\/p>\n<p>At around 3.56pm the D\u00fan Laoghaire RNLI inshore lifeboat arrived on scene and successfully got all four adults off the boat.<\/p>\n<p>They were taken ashore to be assessed at the RNLI station, where they were met by HSE and Fire Service personnel, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>At around 5.15pm the boat fire was reported extinguished, and the vessel sank, according to the Department of Transport.<\/p>\n<p>The RNLI&#8217;s all-weather lifeboat and Dublin Port tug remained on scene monitoring the boat.<\/p>\n<p>The Maritime Rescue Co-Ordination Centre liaised with D\u00fan Laoghaire Coast Guard Unit, D\u00fan Laoghaire RNLI and Dublin Port.<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed confirmed that they were assisting emergency services &#8220;near the scene of an incident involving a vessel in D\u00fan Laoghaire harbour.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Four people have been rescued after a boat caught fire and sank off the coast of D\u00fan Laoghaire.&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":405905,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[61,60,43],"class_list":{"0":"post-405904","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-ireland","8":"tag-ie","9":"tag-ireland","10":"tag-news"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/405904","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=405904"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/405904\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/405905"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=405904"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=405904"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=405904"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
