\n\tRyan Reynolds confirmed in a \u201cSunday Today\u201d interview that he\u2019s got some stuff already written when asked about Deadpool<\/a>\u2018s return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While there\u2019s no information on what the actor is cooking up for his foul-mouthed superhero, it appears it will not be a standalone \u201cDeadpool 4\u201d movie.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI have some stuff kind of written, but I don\u2019t think I am ever going to center him again,\u201d Reynolds said, revealing Deadpool\u2019s life as a big screen main character might be over as far as Reynolds\u2019 iteration of the character is concerned. \u201cHe is a supporting character. He is a guy who is great in a group.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeculation has run rampant on social that Reynolds will be back as Deadpool in a secret role in this December\u2019s \u201cAvengers: Doomsday,\u201d although the actor has downplayed<\/a> such rumors. Reynolds said in an interview with THR<\/a> in December 2024 that he\u2019d love for the character to cross paths with the Avengers or the X-Men without having to join either group. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIf he becomes either, we\u2019re at the end,\u201d Reynolds said. \u201cDeadpool works so well appearing with the X-Men and Avengers, but he always needs to stay an outsider. His ultimate dream is to be accepted and appreciated. But he can\u2019t be accepted. His coping mechanism of deflecting shame through humor works only when used to pave over his many inadequacies. If and when he\u00a0does\u00a0become an Avenger or X-Man, we\u2019re at the end of his journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tReynolds also explained at the time that he was leaning towards not making another standalone \u201cDeadpool\u201d movie because \u201ccentering Deadpool works best if you take everything away from him and put his back against the wall. I can\u2019t really do that\u00a0again. A fourth time feels a little iterative and redundant. That doesn\u2019t mean sacrificing fun. There is still an arc for Deadpool which is fulfilling and powerful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tReynolds\u2019 Deadpool officially entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2024\u2019s smash hit \u201cDeadpool and Wolverine,\u201d which earned $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office to become the highest grossing R-rated movie in history. The first two \u201cDeadpool\u201d movies were released in 2016 and 2018 and each grossed in the $780 million range worldwide.<\/p>\n
