A heartbroken father has issued an appeal to motorcyclists across the county to attend his daughter\u2019s funeral tomorrow in Cork city.<\/p>\n
Amelia Murphy from Glanmire, who was 16-years-old, died unexpectedly at Cork University Hospital on Friday following a medical event.<\/p>\n
In a post shared on social media by her father, Owen Murphy, he said that Amelia grew up around motorbikes and had a dream of owning her own.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy heart is shattered as I share the news of the sudden passing of my beautiful daughter, Amelia,\u201d said Mr Murphy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWords will never be enough to express the loss felt by her brothers, her mother, and our entire family.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone who knew her knew her love for motorbikes and her dream of getting her own hot pink\/purple Bandit 600.<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI would be grateful if any bikers could join us on Tuesday to escort her to the crematorium in Ringaskiddy.\u201d\u00a0\n <\/p>\n
\u00a0Mr Murphy additionally thanked paramedics and staff at CUH who \u201cfought so hard to save her\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will never forget your efforts,\u201d said Mr Murphy.<\/p>\n
Speaking to The Echo, Aaron Wolfe, principal at Col\u00e1iste \u00c9amann R\u00eds where Ms Murphy was a Transition Year student, said she was \u201ca beautiful, friendly and happy girl\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would like to offer condolences to Amelia’s family, her parents Owen and Bernadette, and her brothers, Owen and Alex,\u201d said Mr Wolfe.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was a very creative girl, she had a real love of animals \u2013 she loved our school dog Cora.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was a great student and a credit to her family.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to celebrate her life and look back on it with happy memories \u2013 she was big into motorcycles, so a couple of students and staff with motorbikes will join the convoy tomorrow.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur thoughts are with her family during this very difficult time.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ms Murphy is survived by her parents, Owen and Bernadette, her two brothers, Owen and Alex, her grandparents, Joe and Fionnuala, cousin Robyn, Ninang (godmother) Sarah, uncle Mike, and her two huskies, Thor and Nala.<\/p>\n
She will lie in repose at Barry Brothers Funeral Home in Hazelwood, Glanmire this evening from 5pm to 6pm, which will be followed by a funeral service from 3pm tomorrow at the funeral home in Glanmire, before her cremation at the Island Crematorium in Ringaskiddy.<\/p>\n
