Patrick Muldoon, the US actor known for his roles in Days of Our Lives, Melrose Place and Starship Troopers, has died at the age of 57.<\/p>\n
His manager confirmed his death to Variety, while People reported that he died on Sunday, 19 April.<\/p>\n
Muldoon became a familiar face to television audiences in the 1990s when he took on the role of Austin Reed in Days of Our Lives.<\/p>\n
The part made him one of the best-known younger stars on the long-running soap and helped establish him as a regular presence on US television.<\/p>\n
He returned to the role years later, underlining how closely he remained associated with the character.<\/p>\n
Muldoon went on to appear in Melrose Place, where he played Richard Hart, and also built a film career that included one of his best-known big-screen roles as Zander Barcalow in Paul Verhoeven’s sci-fi satire Starship Troopers in 1997.<\/p>\n
In the years that followed, he continued to work steadily in television films, dramas and independent productions.<\/p>\n
Before his breakout, Muldoon had appeared in series including Who’s the Boss? and Saved by the Bell.<\/p>\n
