Denise Richards is reportedly taking the shocking death of her ex Patrick Muldoon<\/a> extremely hard.<\/p>\n

Muldoon died on Sunday following a sudden heart attack. He was 57 years old.<\/p>\n

Richards, who dated the actor for nearly five years in the late \u201990s but knew him since she was a teenager, is \u201cinconsolable,\u201d the Daily Mail reported.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s devastated. Really, really sad,\u201d a source close to the actress told the outlet. \u201cI\u2019d even call her inconsolable. She can\u2019t stop crying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Richards, 55, met Muldoon when she was 19 years old and he was 21 in an acting class. They remained close friends until his death.<\/p>\n

\u201cPatrick is the ex that she had the best relationship with,\u201d the source said of the exes. \u201cThere was a ton of respect on both sides.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so amicable that they were better friends than lovers and they remained in constant contact. She was his biggest supporter, he was hers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Page Six reached out to Richards\u2019 rep for comment, but didn\u2019t receive an immediate response.<\/p>\n

Muldoon spoke about his close friendship with Richards \u2014 whom he starred in 1997\u2019s \u201cStarship Troopers\u201d with \u2014 during his appearance on Tori Spelling\u2019s \u201cMisSPELLING\u201d podcast<\/a> in October 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe both don\u2019t come from entertainment families, and our families got to know each other over the years and kind of checked in with each other on navigating the crazy stuff that we all go through,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He shared that despite the two not ending up together romantically after an \u201con and off\u201d relationship, he was still close with Richards\u2019 kids with Charlie Sheen \u2014 daughters Lola, 20, and Sami, 22.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a good relationship with both Lola and Sami,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve known them since they were first born, and so I have a good relationship with both.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lola paid tribute to Muldoon<\/a> on Instagram Monday, revealing that she \u201cbegged\u201d her mom to get back together with him.<\/p>\n

\u201ci thought you were the one that was supposed be in our lives forever,\u201d she wrote in an emotional tribute to the \u201cDays of Our Lives\u201d alum.<\/p>\n

\u201ci will really miss hearing my mom laugh on the phone with you. your voice always brightened my day and i\u2019m gonna miss hearing it but i know my mom will more, but we will never stop talking about you,\u201d she also shared.<\/p>\n

Lola thanked Muldoon for being her mom\u2019s best friend.<\/p>\n
