The latest designer to head to the high street? Victoria Beckham<\/a>. Well, technically she’s returning, having previously collaborated with Mango<\/a>. Rather than a one-off collection or two, however, Gap has just announced that it has embarked on a multi-season partnership with VB, which will launch online and in select stores around the world on 24 April. The announcement is the latest in a string of similar stories, most recently including the fact that, in September, John Galliano will launch his own multi-season project with Zara<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Raiding the Gap archives from the ’80s and ’90s, Beckham has reimagined some of the high-street brand’s most famous classics, such as jeans, denim jackets, khaki trousers, T-shirts and fleeces, priced from \u00a325 to \u00a3250. The designer’s chic sensibility can be seen in some of the structured outerwear and slim silhouettes, as well as little details like her own “VB” signature, realised in red stitching on certain pieces. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe collection is really about refining the pieces women already rely on on a daily basis \u2013 denim, T-shirts, tailoring, and outerwear \u2013 but with very considered proportions and detail,\u201d Beckham tells Bazaar. \u201cDenim was the natural starting point given Gap\u2019s heritage, so we explored more sculptural shapes and modern cuts that still feel timeless. We also spent time in the Gap archives, revisiting iconic references from the late \u201980s and early \u201990s \u2013 a period defined by a certain confidence and playfulness that still feels very relevant today.”<\/p>\n

Gap has enjoyed several other successful collaborations in recent years, including with D\u00f4en and Sandy Liang, but this is the most high-profile in terms of global awareness. And, of course, Beckham provides a slightly more elevated approach, aligning with the brand’s recent push into a more luxe space; since Zac Posen joined Gap as executive VP and creative director in 2024, he has launched GapStudio<\/a>, a slightly more premium line for which Gwyneth Paltrow and Apple Martin starred in the debut campaign. <\/p>\n

Much like her collaboration with Mango, Beckham’s offering for Gap is likely to sell incredibly quickly; we predict that the denim pieces \u2013 particularly the jeans \u2013 will be among the first to go, given the focus on great fit. With a campaign that’s shot by Mert Ala\u015f and Marcus Piggott, styled by Alistair McKimm, and featuring models Mica Arga\u00f1araz and Lina Zhang, it’s clear that Beckham has brought her own high-fashion aesthetic to one of the high-street’s most beloved brands. <\/p>\n
