Ireland AM host Muireann O’Connell has made a ‘huge’ apology to viewers after the breakfast show went off air for an hour.<\/p>\n

The popular morning show – hosted by Muireann, Tommy Bowe<\/a> and Alan Hughes – went off air on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

After the break, the trio was heading into the second segment of the show and were about to sit down and discuss the news headlines when the blunder happened.<\/p>\n

Just moments later, viewers screens went blank at 7:17am, before a message appeared, saying: ‘We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Normal service will resume shortly.’<\/p>\n

The show was then replaced by an episode of In For A Penny, hosted by Stephen Mulhern.<\/p>\n

After just over an hour off air, at 8.21am, the morning show appeared back on screens and showed Tommy and Muireann in mid-conversation with three guests.<\/p>\n

At 8.30am, the hosts apologised to viewers at home, with Muireann saying: ‘We just want to say a huge sorry for the disruption to the broadcast this morning.’<\/p>\n

The 43-year-old explained how they had continued filming the show while off-air so that fans could watch it back on the player.<\/p>\n

She said: ‘Anything you missed will be available on Virgin Media Play but we are back now.’<\/p>\n

Ireland AM <\/a>also shared a notice on Instagram after the ‘small glitch’ to inform fans that they were back on air. The station added: ‘Thank you for your patience. We sorted this out!’<\/p>\n
