Lesley Manville returns as book editor and amateur sleuth Susan Ryeland in BBC’s Marble Hall Murders, the TV adaptation of the third and final chapter in Anthony Horowitz’s best-selling book series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The series, set to premiere at a later date on BBC One and iPlayer, follows Susan as she takes on a big job. Called to edit a new Atticus P\u00fcnd novel, this time written by a troubled, young author, the protagonist finds herself the suspect in a new murder case.<\/p>\n

In the world of the book, detective Atticus P\u00fcnd (Tim McMullan) becomes embroiled in the killing of Lady Margaret Chalfont (Patricia Hodge) as he visits the island of Corfu. There, P\u00fcnd investigates Lady Margaret’s family with the assistance of a Greek detective, Achilles Vassilikos (Zubin Varla).

As usual, the book and real-life murders are set to intertwine, with the synopsis teasing: “P\u00fcnd’s Last Case is a story set in 1955, in an exotic villa in Corfu \u2013 but the identity of a real killer is hidden in the text, and once again Susan is going to find herself in grave danger.”<\/p>\n

Joining the central duo of detectives on this third chapter is a stacked cast, also including The Last Kingdom’s Jamie Blackley as the author of P\u00fcnd’s new novel as well as Ludwig’s Mark Bonnar as Elmer Waysmith.<\/p>\n

The ensemble is rounded out by This City Is Ours’ Daniel Cerqueira, Game of Thrones’ Harry Lloyd, Whitechapel’s Rupert Penry-Jones, Line of Duty’s Anneika Rose, and Killing Eve’s Danny Sapani.

First announced in January 2025, Marble Hall Murders follows the BBC’s two previous adaptations of Horowitz’s books, Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders, with the latter averaging 4.9 million viewers across the series as one of the BBC’s most-watched acquired scripts of 2024.<\/p>\n

In response to the announcement of Marble Hall Murders, author Anthony Horowitz, who penned the script, said: “I’m so happy to bring the team back \u2013 stars, director, producers, and crew \u2013 for a third instalment of what has been a fantastically successful TV series. I have a feeling this could be the best yet.”<\/p>\n

Marble Hall Murders is directed by Rebecca Gatward (Moonflower Murders, Bad Sisters), produced by Suzanne McAuley (Moonflower Murders, Lynley) and executive produced by Jill Green for Eleventh Hour Films. <\/p>\n
