Irish golf has been experiencing a boom in recent years, with a host of world-class courses to play. But how much does it cost to play golf in Ireland in 2026? We’ve looked at green fees and membership costs at some of the most popular courses, from budget-friendly options to eye-watering prices\"A<\/p>\n

Irish golf has been flourishing for two decades and Rory McIlroy’s recent back-to-back Masters triumph will only further enhance the interest in the game on the island.<\/p>\n

The Ryder Cup next September will be held at Adare Manor and bring the eyes of the sporting world onto Irish shores. While the ticket prices involved are raising eyebrows, the sport is big business.<\/p>\n

Following the major triumphs of Padraig Harrington, Shane Lowry and northern trio McIlroy, Darren Clarke and Graeme McDowell, Irish sports fans have come to expect their players to challenge and defeat the very best in the world.<\/p>\n

It all begins on the driving ranges and fairways across Ireland where the sport takes root. It is not a cheap pursuit, however. While a bucket of balls at a range might set you back \u20ac10, a round of golf can vary wildly from \u20ac15 to \u20ac500.<\/p>\n

By comparison, the priciest golf memberships in the UK are found at exclusive private clubs, with Beaverbrook Golf Club in Surrey frequently cited as commanding the steepest initiation fee, reportedly exceeding \u00a3300,000, reports the Irish Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Across the Atlantic, American golf memberships carry initiation fees and annual dues stretching into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Sebonack Golf Club in New York demands an initiation fee of $650,000 to over $1 million, with annual dues undisclosed.<\/p>\n

Liberty National in New Jersey commands a $450,000 to $500,000 initiation fee alongside estimated annual dues of $29,000. We’ve examined some of Ireland’s premier golf courses, alongside the most frequented, to determine the cost of playing a round or securing membership. There are also numerous courses available for those with higher handicaps.<\/p>\n

Adare Manor<\/p>\n

What better place to begin than Adare Manor, which will host Europe’s defence of the Ryder Cup in 2027. It ranks amongst Ireland’s most distinguished golfing venues, attracting visitors from across the globe.<\/p>\n

Green fees for 2026 from May through October have been established at \u20ac550 per person for residents. The club stipulates that all golfers must employ the services of their elite caddie programme. A caddie fee stands at \u20ac120. Membership packages are obtainable but solely upon request.<\/p>\n

As an intriguing aside, directly adjacent to the entrance of JP’s prestigious resort sits Adare Manor Golf Club. This represents a separate course where tee times can be secured for \u20ac40.<\/p>\n

Ballybunion Golf Club (Old Course)<\/p>\n

The Kerry course ranks amongst the finest worldwide, not merely in Ireland, though it commands a premium price. Green fees total \u20ac400. Annual membership is presently unavailable. A \u20ac500 two-round package incorporating both the Old and Cashen Courses is offered for 2025.<\/p>\n

Lahinch Golf Club (Old Course)<\/p>\n

Further along the Wild Atlantic Way lies the spectacular Lahinch golf course on the Co Clare coastline. A round here will set visitors back \u20ac375. It operates as a private members club and is not currently accepting new memberships. Record green fee revenue of \u20ac3.3m at Lahinch Golf Club in 2024 helped the club generate an operating surplus of \u20ac1.72m. American golfers typically account for a considerable portion of green fee income, and the club’s annual report indicates that increasing green fees to \u20ac375 in 2025 could push green fee revenue up to \u20ac3.8m.<\/p>\n

Rosapenna Golf Resort<\/p>\n

This breathtaking resort in Downings, Co Donegal boasts no fewer than three world-class courses, all of which can be played on a package deal for \u20ac550. The Old Tom Morris Course is available throughout the winter months for as little as \u20ac60. The St Patrick’s Links, designed by Tom Doak, is priced at \u20ac120 for next year, with overseas visitors required to pay \u20ac350.<\/p>\n

For the Sandy Hills Links at Rosapenna, international visitors will pay \u20ac240, while Irish golfers can play for \u20ac90.<\/p>\n

Portmarnock Golf Club<\/p>\n

One of Ireland’s most sought-after golfing destinations, Portmarnock needs little introduction. Situated on the outskirts of the capital and within easy reach of Dublin Airport, a round here will set you back \u20ac405.<\/p>\n

Membership packages are available upon request only. The course is widely tipped to host The Open in the coming years, as the R&A looks to capitalise on the triumph of staging the prestigious major championship on Irish soil at Portrush.<\/p>\n

The European Club The esteemed Irish golf course, The European Club, changed hands in May 2025 for more than \u20ac35 million when former BMW dealers Ray and Nicky Conlan acquired it. A round at the Wicklow venue will set you back \u20ac320. Tiger Woods holds the course record with an impressive 67. Reflecting on his round, he remarked: “What wonderful optical illusions. I thought some of those par-4s were par-5s. A great links.”<\/p>\n

Waterville Golf Links<\/p>\n

This magnificent Kerry course is frequently cited as amongst Ireland’s best – though it comes at a premium. Green fees range from \u20ac350-\u20ac375 throughout peak season, while International Membership carries an initiation fee of $21,800 for those aged 40 and above, alongside annual subscriptions of \u20ac1,090 (individual) or \u20ac1,417 (family).<\/p>\n

The Island Golf Club<\/p>\n

The Island Golf Club boasts a distinctive location surrounded by sea on three sides in Donabate, Dublin. A round there commands \u20ac325 in green fees. It’s a traditional links course positioned on rugged landscape and tucked between the tallest sand dunes on the east coast.<\/p>\n

Trump Doonbeg<\/p>\n

The 2026 Irish Open is scheduled for Doonbeg in Co Clare, notably owned by US President Donald Trump. A round costs between \u20ac250-\u20ac430 depending on season and day of the week. Membership options are exclusively available upon enquiry.<\/p>\n

The K Club The Palmer South course at the renowned Kildare venue is conceived principally as an inland links layout. A round at the K Club will set visitors back roughly \u20ac125\u2013\u20ac245 during the April-October peak period and \u20ac90\u2013\u20ac130 in the November-March off-season, with exact pricing dependent on the course (Palmer North or Palmer South) and whether you’re staying at the hotel or visiting. Annual membership can be secured for \u20ac1,900 with an upfront joining charge of \u20ac500.<\/p>\n

Royal Portrush<\/p>\n

The golfing world’s attention turned to Royal Portrush last summer for the 153rd Open. It consistently features amongst the finest courses globally and membership demand remains substantial.<\/p>\n

A waiting list exists for prospective members, accompanied by associated fees. Nevertheless, costs fall well short of establishments such as Beaverbrook in England or certain exclusive American clubs.<\/p>\n

Annual membership at Royal Portrush stands at \u00a32,000. There’s also a one-time joining charge which is substantial but remains undisclosed until direct contact with the club.<\/p>\n

This year, the Dunluce Links can be played for \u00a3420 between April 1 and October 31, should you desire a single round. The Valley Links will cost \u00a3200 per person during the same timeframe, with caddies available for hire.<\/p>\n

Royal County Down<\/p>\n

Royal County Down, positioned against the spectacular backdrop of the Mountains of Mourne, has been recognised as the world’s premier course and presents a formidable challenge for even the most accomplished golfers. The RCD club keeps its membership fees private, as is standard practice for exclusive establishments. Details regarding membership are only disclosed through direct contact with the club.<\/p>\n

Rounds can be played at various times between mid-April and October 2026 for \u00a3450, with reduced rates available during summer months for Golf Ireland members.<\/p>\n

Best of the rest<\/p>\n

Co Sligo Golf Club charges \u20ac295, while the neighbouring Enniscrone Links course is priced at \u20ac235. Baltray, where Shane Lowry famously claimed the Irish Open as an amateur, charges \u20ac350. Just hope for better conditions than when the Offaly hero secured his national title in 2009.<\/p>\n

The stunning Ballyliffin Golf Club features the Glashedy Links and The Old Links, with green fees priced at \u20ac300. Tralee Golf Club matches anything along Irish coastlines, with rounds costing \u20ac375.<\/p>\n

Portsalon Golf Club is another gem situated on the magnificent Ballymastocker Bay in Co Donegal. A round there is a more accessible \u20ac170. Back in the capital, the Royal Dublin Golf Club on Bull Island charges \u20ac295.<\/p>\n

The Bunclody Golf Club in Wexford is another favoured destination, offering a high-quality course beside the Slaney river at very reasonable prices. A round on the Championship course costs just \u20ac50 on weekdays in 2026. It’s \u20ac70 on Fridays and \u20ac80 at weekends. Annual membership there costs \u20ac1,375. For students it’s \u20ac572, and \u20ac200 for kids.<\/p>\n

Starting out For those not yet competing at the elite level, there are numerous venues to refine your swing and enhance your performance. Take Deer Park Golf in Howth, Dublin, which provides 18-hole green fees of approximately \u20ac30 for standard rounds and \u20ac35 for weekend sessions.<\/p>\n

The facility also features a 9-hole layout where standard green fees run about \u20ac25, with weekend charges dropping slightly below \u20ac20. Elsewhere in Dublin, Corballis Golf Links presents a magnificent 18-hole course nestled along the north Dublin shoreline. Their typical online pricing stands at \u20ac35 for weekends and just \u20ac30 during the week.<\/p>\n

Over in neighbouring Co Meath, RandR Dunboyne charges \u20ac14 for 9 holes and \u20ac17 for 18 holes on weekdays, while weekends and bank holidays see prices of \u20ac15 for 9 holes and \u20ac19 for 18 holes.<\/p>\n

Further north in Donegal, Greencastle Golf club welcomes visitors with GUI membership for merely \u20ac40 per round and offers breathtaking vistas across Lough Foyle.<\/p>\n
