Musicians, bands, communities and schools across Ireland are being asked to \u2018Make Some Noise\u2019 to help end homelessness on Friday 1 May, as Focus Ireland launches its new national fundraising and awareness campaign in partnership with Bauer Media metro, music and youth stations.<\/p>\n

\u2018Make Some Noise’ will see musicians, singers, DJs, choirs and community groups organise performances or join live events across the country to raise awareness and vital funds to help end homelessness for good.<\/p>\n

Make Some Noise is proudly supported by Bauer Media metro, music and youth radio stations iRadio, Red FM, SPIN South West, SPIN 1038 and 98FM, who will amplify activities across Ireland as communities come together to host gigs, concerts and events and stage their own noise moments to raise funds and awareness of the work being done by Ireland\u2019s leading homelessness charity, Focus Ireland.<\/p>\n

Live events organised by Focus Ireland and supported by Bauer Media stations will take place in Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Sligo, while musicians and performers across the country are encouraged to organise their own gigs in pubs, music venues, schools or local communities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Primary schools across the Provinces are invited to take part in a \u2018national noise moment\u2019 on Friday 1 May by assembling in the school yard, gym or hall at 11am to make as much noise as possible for one minute by shouting, singing, clapping, banging drums or making noise whatever way they like while raising funds for Focus Ireland by donating \u20ac2 per child.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Make Some Noise campaign comes as the homelessness crisis continues to deepen across the country with 17,308 people, including almost 5,500 (5,457) children currently without a home, living in temporary or emergency accommodation. Homelessness in Ireland increased by 9% in the last year, however the most recent figures show that Focus Ireland worked with 587 families in 2024, helping them to leave homelessness behind.<\/p>\n

Launching the campaign, Focus Ireland CEO, Pat Dennigan said, \u201cAt Focus Ireland, we want to end child homelessness, but we know that we can\u2019t do it alone. We are delighted to be working with Bauer Media\u2019s stations – iRadio, Spin SouthWest, Red FM across Ireland and 98FM and SPIN 103.8 in Dublin. Together we want to Make Some Noise and raise funds for Focus Ireland on May 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that homelessness affects people right across the country, with a record number of children experiencing the disruption to their education, development, and family life caused by living in emergency accommodation. This is wrong.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether you organise a gig in your local town, join one of our events, or make some noise at school, together, we can all play our part in ensuring no child is without a home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Presenters across Bauer Media\u2019s regional radio stations are encouraging listeners to sign up, organise gigs and support performers in their local area.<\/p>\n

Participants can take part by organising their own fundraising gig on Friday 1 May, or by joining a city event in Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick or Sligo.<\/p>\n
