What Will Mercedes Call It?<\/p>\n
When Mercedes teased its new, “extreme” AMG earlier this year, it avoided calling it the CLE 63. The only thing the automaker said about the car was that it would be “based on the popular CLE<\/a>.”<\/p>\n Mercedes made no mention of the name, going as far as captioning the car in the press photos as an “Uncompromising AMG.” The automaker did reveal that the car would be the second Mythos series model after the AMG PureSpeed<\/a>, which Mercedes had based on the SL, so the car will likely have a truly unique name.<\/p>\n Mythos is Mercedes\u2019 ultra-luxury low-volume sub-brand that launched in 2022. There are vents on the front fenders and on the bumper. It\u2019s unclear if that was extra safety equipment for the cold-weather testing the car was undergoing, or a hint at the car\u2019s performance-oriented purpose.<\/p>\n Inside, we expect the car to retain the CLE interior, including the large infotainment display, but the cabin should feature several unique AMG and Mythos touches. We expect it to be highly customizable due to its limited production run and heightened exclusivity.<\/p>\n What Will Power It?<\/p>\n Photo by: Motor1.com<\/p>\n Mercedes<\/a> has made no official mention of what will power the hotter CLE, but we doubt it will be anything less than the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine. The automaker allegedly planned to borrow the four-cylinder plug-in hybrid setup from the C63, but following backlash to that model\u2019s downsized engine, which made 671 hp, Mercedes changed its mind.<\/p>\n Rumors suggest the twin-turbo V8 could make as much as 646 hp<\/a>\u2014203 hp more than the CLE 53, and that\u2019s all expected from the engine.
