Iron Maiden<\/a>\u2019s legacy will extend beyond the concert stage and into the ring when wrestler Lizzy Rain, the niece of late Maiden drummer Clive Burr<\/a>, makes her WWE debut next week.<\/p>\n

Rain, formerly known as Rayne Leverkusen, will debut next Tuesday (April 28) in WWE\u2019s NXT division, a developmental brand that serves as a training ground for wrestlers before they move to the Raw or SmackDown rosters.<\/p>\n

Who Is Lizzy Rain?<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old Rain, who\u2019s also adopted the nickname \u201cthe Maiden of Metal,\u201d has been wrestling since 2021. She announced her WWE\u00a0debut in a teaser video on Tuesday (April 21).<\/p>\n

\u201cThey said I was too loud, too gritty, too unapologetic. But I will never apologize for who I am, and that is Lizzy Rain and heavy metal, baby!\u201d she proclaimed. \u201cThe stage is set next week for my NXT debut, and the world is about to find out that Lizzy Rain and heavy metal will never, ever, never, ever die!\u201d<\/p>\n

Clive Burr’s Iron Maiden Tenure and Relationship to Lizzy Rain<\/p>\n

Burr played with Iron Maiden from 1979 to 1982 and appeared on the band\u2019s first three albums: 1980\u2019s Iron Maiden<\/a>, 1981\u2019s Killers and 1982\u2019s The Number of the Beast<\/a>. After his dismissal from Iron Maiden, he briefly played with bands such as Alcatrazz, Gogmagog (the short-lived supergroup featuring former Maiden vocalist Paul Di\u2019Anno<\/a> and future Maiden guitarist Janick Gers<\/a>) and Dee Snider<\/a>\u2019s post-Twisted Sister<\/a> band Desperado.<\/p>\n

Burr was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the \u201890s and died<\/a> in 2013 at the age of 57.<\/p>\n

Although Rain\u00a0was not particularly close\u00a0to her uncle, she said his music played a huge role in shaping her heavy metal\u00a0wrestling persona.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I knew him, we didn\u2019t really get to have these cool conversations about, \u2018What was it like?\u2019 All this sort of stuff,” Rain told\u00a0The A2thaK Wrestling Show<\/a> podcast in December.\u00a0“But me and my brother have always listened to Iron Maiden<\/a>, Alice Cooper<\/a>, Motley Crue<\/a>, KISS<\/a>, Guns N\u2019 Roses<\/a>. You name it, anyone, we\u2019ve gone to see them live in concert. I think we\u2019ve seen Alice Cooper about 16, 17 times.”<\/p>\n

Rain said her early love of heavy metal “completely shaped my wrestling persona because I just wanted to be me. And they say just try to be yourself but times it by 10, and that\u2019s what I think I am.\u201d<\/p>\n
