{"id":413262,"date":"2026-04-23T10:20:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T10:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/413262\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T10:20:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T10:20:08","slug":"man-60s-dies-after-being-hit-by-shuttle-bus-at-dublin-airport-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/413262\/","title":{"rendered":"Man (60s) dies after being hit by shuttle bus at Dublin Airport \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man has died after being hit by a bus at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-airport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-airport\">Dublin Airport<\/a> early on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed said they responded to a report of the incident at Corballis Road, Dublin Airport, shortly after midnight, at about 00:10am. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A pedestrian, aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">His body has been taken to the mortuary at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, and the coroner has been notified, garda\u00ed said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The scene has been preserved for technical examination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In a statement, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/daa\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/daa\/\" target=\"_blank\">DAA<\/a> said the incident occurred on the main road leading to the airport between the roundabout and the terminal. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Garda&#xED; at the scene of the fatal incident at Dublin Airport. Photograph: Sam Boal\/Collins <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Emergency services and airport police attended the scene immediately and airport officials are assisting garda\u00ed with their investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cOur deepest sympathies are with the loved ones of the deceased,\u201d a DAA spokesman said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Some lanes on the main road leading to the airport remained closed on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cHowever, access remains and traffic is moving well. Further road closures may be required as the morning progresses, with diversions possible,\u201d the spokesman said. \u201cPassengers travelling today are advised to allow extra time to get to the airport and to follow diversions where required.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed appealed for witnesses to the incident. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Any road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam footage and were travelling in the area between 11.45pm on Wednesday and shortly after midnight on Thursday, have been asked to make footage available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Anyone with information is asked to contact Ballymun Garda station on (01) 666 4400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A man has died after being hit by a bus at Dublin Airport early on Thursday morning.
