DeepSeek-V4-Pro beats all rival open models for maths and coding, and trails only Google\u2019s Gemini 3.1-Pro, a closed model, for world knowledge, DeepSeek said in an announcement on social media.<\/p>\n
The \u201cpro\u201d version\u2019s performance falls only \u201cmarginally short\u201d of OpenAI\u2019s GPT\u20115.4 and Gemini 3.1-Pro, \u201csuggesting a developmental trajectory that trails state-of-the-art frontier models by approximately 3 to 6 months,\u201d the\u00a0Hangzhou-based startup said.<\/p>\n
The \u201cflash\u201d model has similar reasoning abilities to the \u201cpro\u201d version, while offering faster response times and \u201chighly cost-effective\u201d usage pricing, the firm said.<\/p>\n
The release comes after DeepSeek-R1 stunned the tech sector upon its launch in January last year with capabilities broadly comparable with those of ChatGPT and Gemini.<\/p>\n
Marc Andreessen, a prominent Silicon Valley venture capitalist with close ties to United States President Donald Trump, hailed the model\u2019s release at the time as \u201cAI\u2019s Sputnik moment\u201d.<\/p>\n
